Man Starts Mobile Laundromat For The Unhoused
A man named Joe Richardson launched a mobile laundromat and for a few hours every week, he washes and dries clothes for unhoused people in Philadelphia. It’s therapeutic for him as it helps him deal with the tragic death of his brother in 2023.
He started working for his family’s laundromat in 2021 after serving 14 years in prison. Richardson said the idea came to him in 2010 while he was incarcerated because unfortunately, clothes get stolen out of laundromats a lot. So he takes a couple of days and drives to neighborhoods to wash and dry clothes.
