Missing Teen Paddleboarders Found By Fishermen

Rescuers searched for two teenagers who went missing while paddleboarding in the ocean near Tampa.

Sheriff’s deputies say the search began for 16-year-olds Avery Bryan and Eva Aponte after they didn’t return from a paddle board excursion around 4pm Monday. Michael Bobbitt joined more than 30 volunteers from several agencies helping in the search that went through the night with boats and helicopters. Finally, three fishermen spotted something on an island.

The girls ended up 14 miles away from where they set off, and were very cold but otherwise unharmed when they were found. The girls said they saw a helicopter fly over them three times during the night, but they couldn’t get in the spotlight because of the razor sharp oysters surrounding the island and they were barefoot.
