Girl Uses CPR To Save Her Father’s Life
Talk about perfect timing! Eleven-year-old Vada Carawan had learned CPR with her Girl Scout troop 11 days prior to when she would put those skills to the test in real life. And not on a stranger…but her DAD who was having a heart attack in Virginia Beach. In fact, Vada was the only one in her troop to successfully save her dummy while learning, so she was the best one for the job!
It happened on November 23rd when she witnessed her dad fall unresponsive. “And I started tearing up and I was like, ‘What do I do?’ Like, for a minute there? I was in complete shock. And then I was like, ‘Heart attack … heart attack, 911.’” Then that fresh training kicked in. Her dog, Maggie, understood there was an emergency and kept putting her paw on dad, too.
Vada said that life-changing experience taught her: “Just put your mind to anything that you would want to do. First, I was like, I don’t know if I can do CPR, but apparently, I can.”
