Tortoises At The Philadelphia Zoo Become Parents At 97 and 96-Years-Old

We have an epic love story to tell of a mother who gave birth to four babies at the age of 97. Mommy, that’s her name, is a Western Santa Cruz Island Galapagos tortoise who has lived most of her life at the Philadelphia Zoo. Dad is 96-year-old Abrazo, who arrived at the zoo during the pandemic. (***insert animal mating sounds here LOLOL)

With their four little ones, now the population of Western Santa Cruz Island Galapagos tortoises is 48 in the country.
