12-Year-Old Becomes Youngest Therapy Dog Handler In Her State
A 12-year-old in Oregon named Lily Prasek just became the state’s youngest therapy dog handler.
She and 4-year-old Golden Retriever Sunny recently passed all the tests to get certified, so now it’s official.
Lily says “He always wants more love. Definitely a love vacuum cleaner, which I often call him – sucks it all up!” Lily is the second youngest of five kids and her siblings doubted she could do this, also because they said Sunny had “terrible manners” as a puppy and young dog. But after passing all of the tests, she’s the youngest Alliance of Therapy Dogs junior handler in their state, and her mom got certified too to volunteer with her.
They visit residents at a long-term home who love Sunny and when Lily turns 16, she can volunteer at a hospital with Sunny.
