Wedding Photo Found In Library Book Returned To The Family

A volunteer at a library near Detroit found an old wedding photo inside a donated book, and used social media to get the photo back to the couple’s family. Librarian Anneliese White posted the photo on the library’s socials, and the granddaughter of the couple in the picture, Sarah Ruggirello, said a childhood friend recognized the name.

Ruggirello said, “One of my childhood friends who I haven’t spoken to in years tagged me in this post, and so I read the post from the Sterling Heights Public Library,” “And she recognized my last name in it and said ‘Hey, are these some family members of yours?'”

Turns out yes…they are her grandparents at their Detroit wedding on Sept. 26, 1953.

Frank Ruggirello died in 2020, and Josephine died in 2023. The couple had been married for 67 years.
