12-Year-Old Offered Future Fire Department Job After Saving His Family
Romir Parker, a 12-year-old from Petersburg, Virginia, secured himself a job as a future firefighter after rescuing his family from their house fire.
He heard a strange sound and then found his house was engulfed in black smoke. Without hesitation, he carried his 1 and 2-year-old siblings, who were asleep on the couch, to safety before returning to help his grandmother.
He was honored by the city with a special proclamation for his bravery and quick thinking. The Petersburg Fire Chief said despite the fire department getting there within 4 minutes, Romir was the one who saved his family’s lives. He offered Romir a job with the fire department when he turns 18.
