80-Year-Old Man Completes “World’s Toughest Foot Race”
An 80-year-old runner from Florida named Bob Becker just became the oldest person to complete what’s billed as the “world’s toughest foot race.” The Badwater ultramarathon is a 135-mile run through Death Valley..with temperatures averaging 116 degrees!!
He finished with 3 hours to spare under the 48 hour limit! He was motivated to keep going after failing to officially finish on time at age 77 by 17 minutes with a dramatic bear crawl for the last few miles! He used it as fuel to get through the race in official time, and had a running coach and crew of 20 to help him do it at age 80!
