Delta Pilot Pulls Aggressive Maneuver To Avoid B-52 Bomber
A Delta pilot is being called a hero for narrowly avoiding a mid-air collision with a B-52 bomber on approach to the airport. The regional flight was traveling from Minneapolis to a small North Dakota airport in Minot. Since the airport is so small and doesn’t use radar, air traffic control was guiding by sight and didn’t see how close they were.
The pilot spotted the massive bomber right in his path and had to pull a hard right to avoid hitting it. The bomber was doing a flyover at the nearby North Dakota State Fair. The pilot then explained the move to the passengers, who all obviously knew that wasn’t typical.
