Lost Mom and Son Leave Notes For Rescuers
Tami Laird was driving her 9-year-old son, Stirling, to Cub Scout Camp when their GPS took them off road onto a rugged trail.
Things went really sideways when their car broke down and left them stranded in the wilderness. There was no cell service or GPS, so Tami wrote a series of notes and placed them on surrounding trails of California’s Sierra Nevada. She also cut up a bed sheet she had packed and tied pieces around tree branches as more clues to where they were.
Those notes helped a search and rescue team find them 24 hours later.
