Ava Cooper was born with multiple heart defects and endured many open-heart surgeries. Last year, at the age of 10, she went into heart failure and a heart transplant was needed.
After a 215 days of waiting for a donor, she learned she was getting a heart. Inside Edition spoke to Ava and her parents, Sean and Jaime. The next day, Ava successfully underwent the 14-hour transplant surgery.
