Girl Scout Honored With The Highest Award For Saving Her Dad
11-year-old Maggie Lewandowski received the highest award in Girl Scouts after using the skills she learned to save her dad’s life. She was 10 last year when her dad, Greg, collapsed one morning having a stroke before they were to have a date to Busch Gardens in Florida.
She had just learned first aid skills as a Girl Scout and knew to call 9-1-1. They talked her through the other steps to try to stabilize him until paramedics got there. He said she was the calm one through it all as he was panicking about what was happening to him. It was a long road of recovery in having to learn to walk again, and Maggie has been by his side through it all.
Out of a million Girl Scouts across the country, 25 girls got that award this year.
