Retired Cop Runs Mobile Laundromat for the Homeless
Wade Milyard is a 45-year-old retired canine officer from Frederick Police Department in Maryland who still wanted to serve his community. So now he operates a mobile laundromat serving homeless individuals at no cost.
He tells CBS Evening News he launched Fresh Step Laundry after encountering a homeless couple who washed clothes in a creek during a domestic dispute call. He used donations and personal funds to convert a bus into a full-service laundry facility. He now follows a regular schedule around his community and has processed over 2,000 pounds of laundry in recent weeks.
