Lost Wallet Leads To Unlikely Friendship
A Christmas Day 2021 act of kindness on a New York City subway has blossomed into an unexpected friendship between two women.
Neena found a leather wallet on a subway seat, and instead of just turning it in to police, she decided to use Facebook to find Carol and returned the wallet personally.
“I didn’t know why somebody would find a wallet and personally return it to a complete stranger — I was amazed that she did that,” Carol told PEOPLE. Carol invited Neena to stay in touch, and that turned into sharing meals and more conversations. “I thought, ‘Wow, what a good person,’” Carol said. Four years later, Neena’s TikTok video about their friendship went viral, showing visits to Carol’s lake house and home-cooked meals.
