High School Students Fix Up Cars For Single Moms In Need
This is such a genius idea!
A class of high-schoolers in Virginia fix up old cars and give them to single moms in need. They’ve done it for eight years and donate around five cars per year.
Louisa County High School’s auto tech program teaches juniors, like Tyler Shelton, all about car mechanics and they get to help their community at the same time. The school has partnered with the nonprofit group Giving Words to connect the cars to the single moms who need them. Eddie Brown started the charity after experiencing hardship as a single parent himself.
Teacher Shane Robertson says it goes further than that….with the skills they are learning, they can repair cars for teachers, fellow students and neighbors at reduced prices. So far, they’ve given away 60 cars and repaired 250.
