A “Sisterhood Of the Traveling Wedding Dress” Involves 13 Brides Sharing One Dress
CBS Mornings had the story of a “sisterhood of the traveling wedding dress” has been going on for 10 years across 13 brides and the start of the story is unexpected.
Sara Blakely is the founder of the billion-dollar brand, Spanx, and is at the center of this connection between strangers over the past 10 years. She was on a hike with strangers when she met a woman named Nataly who shared she just got engaged. For some reason, Sara offered her wedding dress to her, though she initially declined. Fast forward a year and Nataly reached back out to Sara as her alterations ruined her dress. Her wedding was in a few days, so Sara overnighted the dress to her and it fit perfectly!
She’s lent her dress 11 times in the last 10 years. Since Natalie in 2015, then a friend, on to 7 brides during Covid… and two earlier this year. The 13th bride is Tanya, who commented on one of Sara’s posts that she was having a winter wedding in NYC and that her and her late mom have always been huge fans of Spanx. The dress has never been altered!
