GoFundMe For Elderly DoorDasher Raises Nearly $1 Million
A Tennessee woman named Brittany Smith was checking her doorbell camera lately and noticed a 78-year-old DoorDash driver struggling to climb up her stairs to deliver an order. At first Brittany tried to give him a bigger tip through the app, but that didn’t work, so she posted the footage online hoping someone knew who he was.

It racked up millions of views, somebody identified him and Brittany took $200 to his house and learned the backstory of why he was dashing. His wife had lost her job so he was working to help cover his wife’s kidney disease medication. So she launched a GoFundMe and it quickly went viral. The GoFundMe has now surpassed $927,000.
“This poor guy is struggling to get up my stairs to deliver my very capable daughter her Starbucks,” Smith said. That money could allow Richard and Brenda something they haven’t had in years: the chance to slow down and rest.
