Bride Surprises Wedding Guests With Her Stem Cell Donor
This was such an amazing full circle moment!
Kaedi Cecala is from Chicago and was diagnosed with a serious bone marrow disorder that meant she would need a stem cell transplant. She officially entered the transplant system in April of 2021 and had a match by October of that year. At first they only had a few details like age, gender and their country. But as soon as the waiting period was over in March last year, her donor, 25-year-old Karol Zwierzinski in Poland reached out. Now that she’s in remission and overwhelmed with gratitude a stranger across the world would give her such a lifesaving gift, she invited him to her wedding in December. He accepted.

Him and his beautiful wife Dominika flew in from their home in Poland to meet face to face for the first time at our wedding. The best part was it was a surprise to the rest of their wedding guests, and Kaedi’s husband introduced Karol who said a few words at the reception. He encouraged others to be a donor because “Somewhere out there your Kaedi may still be waiting,”
