Couple’s Viral Tree Story Gets 48 Million Views
High school sweethearts Kelsey and Wes Dixon planted a cherry tree in 2007 as teenagers and have taken a picture with it every year for 17 years. They got married and even though they moved 3,000 miles away, they come back every year for their tradition. That included when she had a baby bump and later gave birth to twins.
That year, her mother-in-law discovered something amazing: the cherry tree had sprouted basal shoots from its roots, essentially producing its own offspring! They put the story on Instagram, where it got 48 million views! That moved Kelsey to write a children’s book titled Roots & Wings and she partnered with a company for a line of trees!
